With 650km of slopes on offer, there is plenty to keep even the most eager skier busy in Portes du Soleil. Avoriaz is central to the domain which makes it a great place to explore the whole of the area from. Links are good and it is easy to get around the slopes to visit the surrounding villages, on both sides of the France/Switzerland border.
The views across the rugged terrain around Avoriaz are awesome and lower down, amongst the trees, skiing through the forest area there are also some lovely picturesque sights.
The nursery slopes are close to the village, and with around half of the resorts slopes green or blue there is no shortage of novice terrain.
Intermediates are spoilt for choice and perhaps the most difficult thing they will have to consider is how late they can leave it before turning for home! The variety of terrain is amazing, with open snow bowls, tree-lined slopes and some lovely long trails.
Avoriaz was one of the first Snowboarder friendly resorts and remains so, with some great terrain, along with fun-parks and a half pipe.
There is instruction on offer for all levels. The resort offers standard instruction and also prides itself on the welcome it can offer to families, so children are well catered for too as they have their own Children's Village right in the heart of Avoriaz. Children are welcome from the ages of 3 years and above, refreshments and a lunch are provided along with professional group lessons on skiing and snowboarding. With over 100 professional instructors to teach your child.
